How to Join the Merchant Navy?
For Deck Officers (Navigation Team)
Do a 1-year DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science) or 3-4 year BSc in Nautical Science. Start as a Deck Cadet and then move up:
Third Officer → Second Officer → Chief Officer → Captain
For Marine Engineers (Engine Team)
Do a 4-year Marine Engineering degree. If you are a Mechanical Engineer, you can do a Graduate Mechanical Engineering (GME) course. Start as a Trainee Engineer and then move up: Fourth Engineer → Third Engineer → Second Engineer → Chief Engineer
For Ratings (Support Team)
